Improve your performance and save a couple of minutes for coffee, tea, and chit chat with colleagues. One of the easiest and most powerful way to do that &#8211; is to use keybord shortcuts, or hot keys.<\/p>\n<p>Shortcut could be set for almost any actions in model, or in drawings.\u00a0All what you have to do is to find most beneficial operations, and arrange hot key map for your circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>But before lets run through default hot keys, which is provided with tekla from a box.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Tekla Structures Shortcuts by\u00a0default<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>V \u2014 <\/strong>set view point, after that camera will rotate right around it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+f<\/strong> \u2014 component manager;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+h<\/strong> \u2014 phase manager;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+m<\/strong> \u2014 move selected items, works for model and for drawings;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+\u0441<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 copy selected items, works for drawings;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+b<\/strong> \u2014 reports manager;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+l<\/strong> \u2014 drawings manager;<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+p<\/strong> \u2014 reset model view to default. For example plan view will be set to view from top.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+i<\/strong> \u2014 views manager\/list of views (in Tekla for each model could be done tens of views with different settings and filters, and view manager help to deals \u00a0with these)<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+pgUp, ctrl+pgDown<\/strong> \u2014 in drawing view &#8211; open next drawing, open previous drawing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ctrl+1,2,3,4,5<\/strong> \u2014 change visual style of parts<\/li>\n<li><strong>shift+1,2,3,4,5<\/strong> \u2014\u00a0change visual style of components (if you use it)<\/li>\n<li><strong>F2<\/strong> \u2014 actually this one is quite important hot key, this is a toggle which allow quickly reset type of selection. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/cadsupport.ru\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Tekla_structures_type_of_selection.png\" alt=\"Tekla Structures Selection toolbar\" width=\"757\" height=\"26\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cadsupport.ru\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Tekla_structures_type_of_selection.png 757w, http:\/\/cadsupport.ru\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Tekla_structures_type_of_selection-300x10.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px\" \/>Push this button to switch selection only for parts. Push once again to switch selection types to default. This is pretty useful, and has one more feature &#8211; if you couldn&#8217;t select something in model, first what you may try to do &#8211; push F2 couple times. If such a key combination is already assigned any action\u00a0application will issue a warning.<\/p>\n<h2>What to choose<\/h2>\n<p>There are three basic principles for creating hotkeys:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>REPEATABILITY<\/strong> &#8211; everything is clear here, hotkeys should be assigned to those commands\u00a0that are constantly used in the work, because they bring result in the total time savings. For most of\u00a0CAD applications these commands for moving, rotating, scaling, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ERGONOMICITY<\/strong> &#8211; the keys should be convenient to press with one hand, for this purpose it is necessary to use keys located mainly on the left side of the keyboard.<\/li>\n<li><strong>MEMONIENCY<\/strong> &#8211; it is desirable that the keyboard combination was in the sense connected in one form or another with the actions\u00a0to which it relates. For example: <strong>Alt + R<\/strong> &#8211; R (rotate) &#8211; rotate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Custom hotkeys for Tekla Structures Model<\/h2>\n<p>This is not a complete list. But maybe it will push you to some thoughts and ideas about organizing your own shortcuts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alt+z<\/strong> \u2014 <em>zoom to selected\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; extremely useful and I advise that for everyone. Especially strongly helps in combination with <strong>ctrl+<\/strong><strong>P<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+1<\/strong> \u2014 \u00a0add construction line<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+2<\/strong> \u2014\u00a0create new beam (double to issue Beam Properties window)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+4<\/strong> \u2014\u00a0create new contour plate\u00a0 (double to issue Plate\u00a0Properties window)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+h<\/strong> \u2014 copy mirror<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+f<\/strong> \u2014 create fitting<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+w<\/strong> \u2014\u00a0move element (upside down M, and in this case more suitable)<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u0410lt+r<\/strong> \u2014 rotate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Costom hotkeys to work with Drawings<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alt+f<\/strong> \u2014 (<em>X dimension<\/em>) create horizontal dimension.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+v<\/strong> \u2014 (<em>Y dimension<\/em>) create vertical dimension<\/li>\n<li><strong>W<\/strong> \u2014 <em>add weld mark<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>D<\/strong> \u2014 <em>add detail view<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+D<\/strong> \u2014 <em>add detail mark without view<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>T \u2014 <\/strong><em>create cut symbol and view\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Alt+T<\/strong> \u2014 <em>add cut mark without view<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Import and export hotkeys from and in Tekla<\/h2>\n<p>After everything is done, the question may arise, how can I transfer my settings from one computer to another? This task in a number of companies can occur with a certain periodicity. Therefore, it would be logical to copy this data, and not configure it from scratch every time. For example \u00a0you can fix the version number in the text, and thus transfer the hot keys to the other version of Tekla.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One small nuance, if you want to create hot keys for working with the drawing, you must close the drawing. Otherwise, they are not stored in the registry.
